2nd Annual
Midwest March for Life

Hosted by
Every January, for decades, there has been the March for Life in Washington D.C. The March commemorates the dreadful Roe v. Wade decision, which paved the way for abortion on demand. In recent years, the West Coast began their own January March for Life.

Now it's OUR turn! Stand with us - March with us - for the 2nd Annual Midwest March for Life. Send the message throughout Iowa and the Midwest: We have not been silent! We will not be silent! We are the voice for the voiceless---the unborn, the infirm and the elderly. We will not rest until every life, born and unborn, is safe from the pervasive culture of death.

Co-Leaders of the 2014 Midwest March for Life will be Bryan Kemper of Stand True Pro-life Outreach and Bishop Richard Pates!

We encourage you to post positive Facebook comments and tweets about attending the Midwest March for Life using the hashtag #midwestmarch.

Thank you and we look forward to marching with you!

Bryan Kemper

Founder, Stand True Pro-life Outreach

Bryan Kemper is the founder of Rock for Life, Stand True and the Pro-life Day of Silent Solidarity. He is currently the Youth Outreach Director for Priests for Life. Bryan Kemper has spent years reaching out to youth and encouraging this generation to get involved, and now he has endeavored to continue that outreach with Stand True Ministries. Stand True is an organization that believes the only way to stop abortion is to call out to Jesus and share His love with the nation. It is an organization that asks of young people, “Will you stand?” Bryan has certainly chosen to, and he can only hope and pray that others will too. - See more at: standtrue.com

Bishop Richard Pates

Bishop, Diocese of Des Moines
On April 10, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Bishop Pates the ninth bishop of the diocese of Des Moines. On that day, Bishop Pates outlined his thoughts as the shepherd for the Catholic diocese of central and southwest Iowa. Bishop Pates’ priorities since being installed May 29, 2008 have been:

Building up a Vocation culture that invites everyone to play a role: Reaching out to newcomers, particularly Spanish-speaking people; Educating and experiencing Evangelization; and Engaging youth and young adults as vibrant and valued members of the faith community.

Sue Thayer

Former Planned Parenthood Director
Sue Thayer had worked for nearly 18 years as the Center Manager of the Planned Parenthood clinic in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was fired in December 2008 when webcam abortion was being introduced in every Planned Parenthood in Iowa. Sue has gone on to become a strong voice for life and has been instrumental in educating the public about the tragedy of abortion, specifically webcam abortion. Sue led Storm Lake’s first ever 40 Days for Life campaign at the very clinic she supervised for so many years. Shortly after completing the 40 day prayer vigil, the clinic closed its doors forever.

Jenifer Bowen

Executive Director, Iowa Right to Life
Jenifer began volunteering at Iowa Right to Life in 2001, joining the staff in 2007. In early 2010, she began her current tenure as Executive Director. She holds a B.A. in Biblical Counseling from Baptist Bible College in Pennsylvania and has counseled women in crisis in both religious and secular institutions. The impact of Roe vs. Wade on her generation is not lost on Bowen, who was born just four months before the landmark decision legalizing abortion in the U.S. "With parents who were mere teenagers at the time, I could have easily been an abortion statistic. There are a lot of people my age and younger saying, 'Maybe God spared us for a reason. Perhaps this is why we are supposed to be involved." It is her passion to share the truth and wonder of human LIFE in all stages of development.

Sue Martinek

President, Coalition for Life of Iowa
The Coalition for Life of Iowa promotes respect for human life from fertilization until natural death through prayer, education and raising awareness. The President, Sue, believes in the protection of all human beings from conception to natural death. Because every human is created in the image and likeness of God, every human life is sacred

Carl Christiansen

Founder/President,
Beauty Amidst The Ashes
Carl Christiansen is the founder and president of Beauty Amidst The Ashes. With the heart of a father his desire and passion is to defend and love the fatherless and orphan. As a boy Carl developed an urgency to share the gospel message with those around him. Adopted as an infant, he grew up learning he was chosen and special. Carl sees the powerful connection between his own adoption and how God adopts us into His family. Carl speaks about adoption, the importance of pro-life and defends those who have no voice. Pioneering this ministry with his birth mom, Carl uses their stories to point others to the hope of the gospel. Its truth can change lives and restore relationships. His surrender to the path set before him brought the beauty of bringing painful experiences to the feet of Jesus and letting him take control.

The After Party

Leadership Institute would like to invite all High School and College students attending the Midwest March for Life and Youth Rally to an after party of training -- Leadership Institute style.

To attend the Leadership Institute training, please RSVP Here.

Building a solid, effective, and well-branded campus organization is no easy task. For pro-life students it can be even more difficult; jumping over the hurdles of hostile administrations, unhelpful Student Government Associations, and combative opposition activists, all takes a little bit of know how. Fortunately, jumping over these hurdles is a specialty of the Leadership Institute's Campus Leadership Program. Join our Regional Field Coordinator, Craig Holland Dixon, a veteran campus organizer, for a crash course on building up your campus organization.

In this school you will learn effective techniques for establishing and building your own campus organization. Topics covered include:

-The real nature of politics on your campus
-Recruitment and building your organization
-Building influence on campus and in your community
-Activism ideas and techniques
-Fundraising and finances
-Internal organization

Any questions can be directed to Regional Field Coordinator, Craig Dixon, at craighdixon@gmail.com
